It’s amazing the difference a year makes. This time last year, I was still a sleep-deprived new mommy yet so excited to dress up my little newborn in his hot dog suit even though Trick-or-Treating was not in the cards. I remember thinking I wished that Chase were old enough to appreciate the festivities – not just the panhandling for candy, but how this holiday marks the beginning of fall. The colors, the traditions, the beginning of the closing of the year. Well, now just one year later, we are getting to infuse all kinds of anticipation into the mind and spirit of our boy for this time of year and he is sincerely enjoying every second of it! And while this Halloween feels like light years away from the last, when I look back to where we were then I can hardly believe how lightning fast the time flies.
So, our preparation for the holiday began with a little wagon ride to choose our pumpkin, a decision that was left entirely to Chase, Pumpkin Master.
Once we found the ideal pumpkin, it was time to try on the costume. Behold my happy little cow in his pasture.
With costume in check and the holiday fast approaching, away to the daycare Halloween parade we went where Chase proudly marched alongside his pals.
With a dry run under our belts, we feel pretty confident that we can charm some candy out of our neighbors tonight. So from our house to yours, we wish you a safe, spooky and memorable Halloween – and of course, a chocolate-induced slumber.

Very cute! Enjoy these few years when most of the candy he collects will be yours!
Holy cow he is adorable! I love the “pasture” shots, but especially his expression in the last one- you have quite the little devil on your hands!
Devil is the truth. Actually now that you mention it, that would have made a much more appropriate costume.
Nothing must ever get done for fear of missing a moment of constant cuteness. Miss you all but with so much happening lately it kept us from making it down your way in October. We’ll get there, sooner or later. Happy Halloweiner to all the Walcotts and Hoofed Toddlers. oxox
