What style is your photography?
My style could probably be described as artistic photojournalism, though labeling as a genre can be very limiting. I believe in authenticity within a moment – and finding a way to artfully capture it. I believe that photography is a medium that is based on the capture of light – plain and simple. Without an understanding of light and how it can literally transform a scene from flat and generic to dramatic and dimensional, you just have a snapshot. In my opinion, to make a great photograph, you need two things: truth and light. Truth in that the moment and the emotion felt between the subjects involved is real, and light (whether abundant or scarce) that sculpts that moment – accentuating the beauty within it. I strive to create great photographs every time I shoot. My passion is to create moving and timeless images for my clients, whether it is amidst the anticipation and joyfulness of a wedding day or documenting the growing relationship and bond between families and loved ones.
where are you located? is my wedding considered local? do you travel?
I serve wedding clients just about anywhere you’d like for me to travel, but my home is Annapolis, MD. Thus, my local market is Eastern & Central Maryland, Washington D.C. and also the Delaware Shore points. However, since I my business was born in Philadelphia and I still have many, many clients and great relationships with vendors there, I still offer special rates for Philadelphia area weddings through 2013. If you are planning a wedding outside of these areas, I happily travel to new locales (did I say happily? I meant VERY happily!), including internationally, for weddings and welcome the chance to explore geographies outside of my immediate areas. So no matter where you are planning your wedding, inquire for information on what would be involved in having me capture your special day – I am excited to hear all about it!
For portraits and private bookings, I serve Eastern & Central Maryland, Washington D.C and the Delaware shore points locally, but welcome portrait clients in any geography. Follow me on Facebook and/or the blog for updates on when I may be traveling to your area for local sessions – or inquire for pricing on having me come visit you!
do you work alone?
No matter who you are or how hard you work, no one truly works alone – and anyone who says they do should evoke suspicion. I would never be able to serve my clients as passionately and holistically as I do without the faith and encouragement of my wonderful husband (who is also my full-time assistant in the field) my friends and family nor without the amazing relationships I have with my vendors. Last but not least, the network of photographers that comprise my most treasured professional support system push my work to new limits and provide an immeasurably valuable pool of resources that help keep me performing at the top of my game.
The more practical answer is: at weddings, I will always have my assistant with me to help with essential lighting, back-up and other extremely important tasks that help ensure the flow of the day runs smoothly. Second shooters are available for an additional charge. For private sessions and portraits, assistance depends on the nature of the shoot.
*Jenna Walcott is the only full-time photographer at Jenna Walcott Photography, and is always the primary photographer on every booking.
what if something happens to you before our wedding day? who will photograph our wedding?
I am a proud a member of professional photographers worldwide and the co-founder of a Northeast based photographer’s organization which should allow you to rest easy that in the event of an unforeseeable catastrophe, you will still have professional coverage of your wedding day. That said, there is very little that could keep me from fulfilling my role as your photographer short of an apocalyptic disaster. Like, think Wild Horses.
how many images will I receive?
Each wedding and/or session is unique, thus, the number of images depends on many factors – length of coverage, the size and type of event etc. The goal is provide you with a captivating collection of images that will tell a story, and I can promise that when you view the images you’ve invested in, the number of images is so plentiful that the exact count becomes irrelevant.
do you offer albums?
Absolutely. Albums are, in my opinion, the culmination of our entire journey toward capturing your day. While it is equally as important to have digital archives of your investment, albums are a timeless and treasured way to share your story and to create that wonderful kind of permanence that sadly seems to be slipping away in our world today. Albums (not digital files) become heirlooms and albums done the right way will last and reach more generations that spring from the union of you and your spouse – the very reason you create the album in the first place.
Albums, wall art and many other offerings are available for sessions of all types.
are you insured?
Yes. Most definitely, YES. Proof of insurance can be provided to any venue upon request but please allow 5-7 business days to produce documents from the insurance company.
